Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union Mourns the Loss of Former Chairman

Published on January 17, 2019

Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is saddened to announce its former Chairman of the Board, Richard P. Viau, passed away on January 8, 2019.

Mr. Viau was elected onto the Board on January 14, 1975, and became Chairman on February 10, 1987. He served 41 years before retiring in 2016.

In those four decades, he attended more than 500 meetings, volunteered an estimated 2,000 hours and dedicated himself to his fellow Board members, Jeanne D’Arc employees and the thousands of Credit Union members.

Mr. Viau began his journey onto the Board while working for his father’s plumbing business. A member of the Credit Union since he was a child, he knew what Jeanne D’Arc stood for and what it did to help the people of the community where he lived. As a young man, he showed no hesitation when the opportunity to get involved came along.

“Mr. Viau was an incredible man who was committed to serving the Credit Union and the entire community,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “He will be greatly missed.”
